a portrait session

Now that Dara can handle a camera on her own, we had a little portrait session this evening.

It took a few tries, but she finally found my head.

Most of it ended up around the knees:

But I really like how this one came out.

shadows (otp108)

I’m never particularly good at figuring out what image will be well liked in the OTP g+ site, but this one went over really well.

In that vein, I just recropped another image from that assignment super tight which is a vast improvement over the previous one which was lacking in focus.

And also some nice shadows from late at night.

golden hour (otp107)

We had some fun with golden hour. As always the obligatory baby shot first.

But also playing with the covered patio. After all I first came across the concept as an issue for architectural photography and capturing both shaded and sky with balanced light, in the days before HDR.

But I think this reflection shot is a much more interesting use of that dynamic instead of the straight patio shot.
